Aubrey Plaza Wore a Butter Yellow Loewe Dress to the 2024 Emmys

It may feel like it's been a while since White Lotus season 2 captivated the internet and TikTok For You pages (what with the SAG strike and postponement of the 2023 Emmy Awards), but Aubrey Plaza is making up for lost time in a look that gave a subtle nod to her posh character. The actress, who is nominated tonight in the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her role Harper, arrived at the Emmys red carpet wearing a playful Loewe dress in a dreamy shade of buttercream.

Having fun with her fashion, the bodice of Aubrey's gown looked like a pat of butter with a pin sliced through the neckline, while the skirt featured a more fitted, column-style silhouette. She accessorized with matching pointed-toe pumps and sparkly gold hoop earrings, which were revealed underneath her half-up, half-down hairstyle, complete with fringe curtain bangs. A swipe of dark pink lipstick and shimmery eyeshadow on her lids completed her glam.

The second season of White Lotus received a whopping 23 nominations tonight, including Outstanding Drama Series, and nine cast members (Plaza, Jennifer Coolidge, Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Simona Tabasco, F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, and Will Sharpe) got individual nods. The cast previously took home the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award at the 2023 SAG Awards earlier this year.

In the fall of 2022, the series had us all in an absolute chokehold, and fan theories littered the internet as the show aired weekly on Max. Between Daphne (Fahy) and her personal trainer to Harper and Cameron's {James} hotel room rendezvous, Mike White kept us guessing at every turn. In an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Plaza weighed in on what she thinks really happened between her character and Cameron — with a dose of her signature dry sense of humor, of course.

“I know what happened, okay? And what happened is, we [Harper and Cameron] did some stuff. And I hated every minute of it. It was disgusting,” she explained to host Seth Meyers, per The Hollywood Reporter.  “And, there was no penetration.”
